Improving export competitiveness for SMEs

- Department of Trade Promotion (Trade Promotion), Ministry of Trade and Industry in collaboration with the Office of Economic Development Cooperation Swiss startup program has enhanced export competitiveness for SMEs VN through contact system local trade.

This program is continuation of the project "Support for trade promotion and export development in Vietnam Nam-VIE/61/94" Swiss Economics Ministry funding to build the capacity of the Department of Trade Promotion and business associations at the central level. The program will be implemented in four years with a total budget of $ 3,890,570, the goal of this program is to improve the export competitiveness of SMEs, thereby increasing exports and developing export sectors of Vietnam through trade promotion system on a national scale.


This objective also specifies the policy of the Government, the State of Vietnam in the current period to expand product markets, support free enterprise inventory, promote business nghiep.Muc business objectives are achieved through strengthening the capacity of the three areas: support three commercial networks in North, Central and South have the ability to provide professional services for the enterprise small and medium-sized exporters, support the establishment of national export council; Capacity for Trade Promotion Agency as the lead national trade promotion system.


Do Thang Hai - Director Trade Promotion Agency, said after the national launch ceremony in Hanoi, the opening ceremony at the local program is Hai Phong, Da Nang and Can Tho will be held in early July next. Shortly after the launch ceremony, the program manager will begin to plan and implement activities for the first year of the program.


According to Ms. Brigitte Bruhin - Deputy Director of the National Economic Development Cooperation Office Development Cooperation Swiss economy, Swiss Embassy, ​​the program will be managed in a manner NEX (NEX). Thereby, donors will entrust the entire responsibility and management operations as well as the Department of Finance projects VIE/61/94 ago. In particular, the Programme Steering Committee was established with the participants including representatives of the donor (SECO), the Ministry of Industry and Trade (Trade Promotion Agency), Ministry of Planning and Investment, Ministry of Finance.


Notably, the products exported to regional priorities identified in the inception phase of the program on the basis of the results of the evaluation report the export potential. There are 3 categories as handicrafts, fruits and vegetables will be added to support the development of the industry value chain.
